What should I bring?
Bicycles: We ask that you bring bicycles for your children. Adult cycles (2-wheeler bicycles as well as tricycles, etc.) can be hired from the Cycling Projects hub for £4, but you will need to arrive by 13:15 in order for there to be time to fit a biycle to you. We will carry out a brief bicycle safety check prior to the start of the cycle ride, so please ensure your bicycles are in working order.
Clothing and waterproofs: In addition, please bring layers of clothes suitable for the weather and walking through vegetation, as well as waterproofs in case of rain.
Snacks and water: Please bring snacks for yourself and your children, plus some water. A tap for refilling water bottles is available in the Centre.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Halewood Environment Centre is at the end of the Loop line (an off-road cycle and walking track) and situated very close to Halewood and Hunts Cross train stations (see map). See http://www.knowsley.gov.uk/
Hunts Cross train station is served by multiple train operators from all areas, including Merseyrail and Northern trains (see http://www.nationalrail.co.uk)
If you need to use a vehicle, car parking is available adjacent to the Halewood Environment Centre. If no space is possible in the car park, unrestricted car parking is possible along Okell Drive.
Is this an environmentally sustainable event?
Yes, as far as possible.
Transport: We provide public transport and active travel travel information and encourage all participants to travel to the event by these modes if possible. If participants are arriving by vehicle, we ask that they car-share where possible, do not idle their engines and drive in an environmentally conscious way (see e.g. http://www.theaa.com/driving-
Plastic-free: We do not provide plastic water bottles or plastic cups and ask all to bring reuseable water bottles that they can re-fill inside the Centre. All equipment, if plastic, is reuseable.
