Gideon Ben-Tovim OBE, Chair of Nature Connected
It is my privilege to Chair Nature Connected – the Liverpool City Region Nature Partnership. Our members include the 6 local authorities and a range of public, private, voluntary, environmental and academic partners. We are delighted to be working with the Combined Authority, the Environment Agency and Natural England to promote the national Year of the Environment in our region. We aim to engage more people including the younger generation in enjoying and nurturing our environment, with all the health and economic benefits that brings.
We hope 2019 will enable us to demonstrate the quality and value of our outstanding blue green assets – rivers, parks, canals, community gardens, coast, reserves – and to showcase the range and commitment of our environmental organisations and our volunteers. We know we, like most big city regions, have major environmental challenges such as poor air quality and plastic pollution. We hope this Year will bring people together across the whole City Region to help protect and enhance our environment, and to enable everyone to enjoy a greater connection with nature.
