Moth Night 20th Anniversary

Moth Night is organised in partnership with Atropos, Butterfly Conservation and the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, and is an annual celebration of moth recording throughout Britain and Ireland.

These events aim to raise awareness of moths among the general public and this years theme is Clifden Nonpareil and Migrants.

Come and celebrate 20 years since the launch event of Moth Night in 1999, with this three night (Thursday-Saturday) event.

Moth Trapping and Recording

Whilst butterflies are widely loved and appreciated, moths often have rather negative associations as a result of their largely nocturnal lifestyle, which means that people are often unaware of their beauty. In fact some moth species rival the beauty of our native butterflies in the complexity and colour of their wing markings, and have such evocative names as True Lover’s Knot, Drinker, Emperor, July Highflyer, to name but a few.
